San Francisco Ballet
Museum of Performance & Design

MPD serves as the official archive for the San Francisco Ballet. This project involves working with MPD's Ballet Archivist and may involve processing company records, scanning, photographing and/or cataloging posters, images, sound and video recordings, and updating the finding aid. San Francisco Ballet is the oldest professional ballet company in the country. Founded in 1933, SFB staged the first American full-length production of Swan Lake, and in 1944 on Christmas Eve, the company presented the first complete version of The Nutcracker ever staged in this country.
